Scuba Diver/Jr. Diver- Your underwater adventure begins! Imagine watching the water level move up your mask as you slowly go below the surface - and continue to breathe! It's the most exciting feeling imaginable and yours when you become a Scuba Diver
Scuba Diver is our entry level scuba certification course during which you will learn the fundamental knowledge and skills to safely scuba dive in open water. When you complete your class you and your buddy will be free to explore and discover the many wonders of the underwater world…and, you will have earned a Scuba Diver certification card.

1. What do I need to do to complete my Open Water Certification?
The Open Water Certification program consist of three parts.
Class Room - This is the academic part of your training. You will learn about Scuba Equipment, Underwater Environments, and the Science behind scuba diving. You have the option of attending three to four class room sessions at our facility OR completing the class room work on-line. Selecting the on-line approach allows you to complete the academic part in the comfort of your home or anywhere you have access to the internet.
Pool - This is where you learn how to dive. During the pool sessions you will learn how to use Scuba Equipment and the various underwater Scuba skills.
Checkout Dives - There are four required check out dives usually conducted over two days. During check out dives you will use the scuba skills you learned in the pool in an open water environment.
2. What is Included In Your Carolina Dive Center Open Water Certification Class?
Open Water Certification Class is $375 and includes just about everything. Here is what is included:

On-line and/or home study materials

Your choice of eLearning or 3 class room training sessions
- 3 Pool Training Sessions
- All SCUBA equipment use for the duration of your Open Water course

2 days of check ot dives (the final step to earning the Open Waer scuba certification). See options below.
- Certification processing including your Open Water Certification Card
- Student discounts on purchase of mask, fins, snorkel and boots
- Lots of fun and a chance to meet new friends and fellow divers
Here is what is not included?

Personal snorkeling equipment. We believe you need best-fit equipment for this, so we ask you to provide your own. We do sell this equipment and do offer special pricing to our students. However if you prefer we can supply them for use ($20).

Admission/Boat Charter fees for your check-out dives. You have several options for your check out dives. After all we want to make this as fun and easy as possible.

Option 1: 2 days of check out dives in our local quarry: admission fees to our local rock quarries currently running $15 per day. With this option you will earn your Open Water Diver Certification.

Option 2: 1 day of check out dives in our local quarry followed by one two tank Carolina Coast boat charter. With this option you will earn your Open Water Diver and optional Boat Diver Certifications. For more information on Dive Charters visit our Trips page

Option 3
: We offer check-out dives on our group trips to warmer waters of the Caribbean or Florida, but you would be expected to pay your own transport, lodging, etc. With this option you will earn both your Open Water Diver and Boat Diver Certifications.

3. When Do Classes Start and how long does it take to get certified?
We run weeknight and weekend classes on a monthly basis. Our schedule is flexible and designed to accommodate your busy schedule. For an additional fee we also offer private lessons based on your schedule.

4 Are There Age Restrictions For Classes?
Open Water Certification can be earned by youth 10 years or older. There is no upper age restriction for adults.
5. Are There Restrictions For Medical Conditions?.
There are some medical conditions that unfortunately may mean you cannot participate in SCUBA.

6. What If I start class and realize Scuba is not for me?
No worries. We will gladly refund your class fees minus the cost of student kit.
7. Is there a difference between a NAUI and SDI Scuba Certification and Which One Should I Choose?
Both NAUI and SDI Scuba Certifications are lifetime certifications that allow for Open Water diving within recreational limits. If you choose to complete the classroom on-line, you will earn an SDI open water certification. If you choose to complete your class room at our dive shop you will receive a NAUI certification.
