Captain Jim, Paul, and the Staff at Carolina Dive Center are looking forward to introducing you to the

underwater world. Our staff at Carolina Dive Center will provide you a safe, comprehensive, and fun training program.


PADI Divers carry the most respected and sought after scuba diving credentials in the world. No matter where you choose to dive, your PADI certification card will be recognized and accepted. In fact, on most scuba diving adventures, you’ll be surrounded by other PADI Divers who made the same certification choice you did – to train with the world’s largest and most respected scuba diving training organization.


Private Scuba Lessons allow you to pick the days and times to complete your scuba lessons. In a hurry we can have you certified in 3 to 4 days.

1. What do I need to do to complete my Private Open Water Certification.

The Open Water Certification program consist of four  parts.

Orientation - This is the kickoff for your Scuba lessons. At the orientation meeting we review all the details for your scuba lessons, complete your registration paperwork, and learn how to assemble your Scuba Gear. 


Knowledge Development - This is the academic part of your training. You will learn about Scuba Equipment, Underwater Environments, and the Science behind scuba diving. You complete your knowledge development on line(e-Learning) allowing you to complete the academic part in the comfort of your home or anywhere you have access to the internet.


Confined Water/Pool Dives - Two pool sessions where you learn how to dive. During the pool sessions you will learn how to use Scuba Equipment and the various underwater Scuba skills.


Open Water Checkout Dives - There are four required check out dives usually conducted over two days.  During check out dives you will use the scuba skills you learned in the pool in an open water environment. 


2. What is Included In Your PRIVATE Carolina Dive Center Open Water Certification Class.

Open Water Certification Class is $590 and includes just about everything. Here is what is included:

  • eLearning knowledge development sessions.
  • - Confined Water/Pool Training Sessions
  • - All SCUBA equipment use for the duration of your Open Water course
  • - 2 days of open water check out dives (the final step to earning the Open Water scuba certification). 
  • - Certification processing including your Open Water Certification Card
  • - Student discounts on purchase of mask, fins, snorkel, and boots
  • - Lots of fun and a chance to meet new friends and fellow divers


Here is what is not included.

Personal snorkeling equipment. We believe you need best-fit equipment for this, so we ask you to provide your own. We do sell this equipment and do offer special pricing to our students. 


PADI Student Crew Pak which you can purchase at your Orientation Session or by stopping in the Dive Shop.


3 How long does it take to get certified with Private Lessons

Our schedule is flexible and designed to accommodate your busy schedule. Plan on 4 days on a schedule you set. We can complete your certification in 3 days if you can spend 8 hours each day having fun and learning scuba.


4 Are There Age Restrictions For Classes?

Open Water Certification can be earned by youth 10 years or older. There is no upper age restriction for adults.


5. Are There Restrictions For Medical Conditions?

There are some medical conditions that unfortunately may mean you cannot participate in SCUBA.
