 AFTER YOU GIVE THE GIFT:  STUDENT REGISTERs ON LINE TO BEGIN  ELEARNING ACADEMICS.

They will learn about Scuba Equipment, Underwater Environments, and the Science behind scuba diving while completing the academic part of their Scuba Lessons in the comfort of your home or anywhere you have access to the internet.  The Academics take about 12-18 hours to complete.   After all why not have some fun !!!!!! 

When Student  completes the eLearning academics it is time to start the Practical Part  (Part II) of their Scuba Lessons.


Here are the details for Part II of their PADI Scuba Lessons:


Orientation Webinar - This is the kickoff of Part II of their Scuba lessons. At the orientation webinar we review all the details for the scuba lessons, meet the other students, and review important scuba concepts. 


Gear Familiarization Classroom Session -  This is where students become familiar and fitted with the Scuba Equipment you will be trained to use. You will learn how to assemble and disassemble all the scuba gear you will use.


Confined Water/Pool Dives - This is where students learn how to dive. During the confined water sessions you will learn how to use Scuba Equipment and perform the various underwater Scuba skills. 


Open Water Checkout Dives - There are four required check out dives conducted over two days. During check out dives they will use the scuba skills you learned in the pool in an open water environment. 


There are several options for  check out dives. After all we want to make this as fun and easy as possible.

Option 1:  2 days of check out dives in our local quarry: admission fees to our local rock quarries currently running $20 per person day. With this option you will earn your Open Water Diver Certification.

Option 3 :  We offer check-out dives on our group trips to warmer waters of the Caribbean but you would be expected to pay your own transport, lodging, etc.


Option 4: A Referral to any PADI Dive Shop so you can complete your checkout dives on vacation. Please note that the Dive Shop you are going to will have an additional fee for checkout dives.

1. What is Included In Your Carolina Dive Center Open Water Certification Class.

Open Water Certification Class is $525 This includes just about everything.  Here is what is included:

  • PADI eLearning academics/knowledge development sessions: 
    - SCUBA Orientation Class.
    - Scuba Gear Familiarization Class.
    - 2 Confined Water/Pool Training Sessions. ​
    - 2 days of open water check out dives (the final step to earning the Open Water scuba certification). 
     - Use of All SCUBA equipment  for  your Open Water course.
    - Certification processing including your Open Water Certification Card.

2. Do I Need My Own Mask/Fins/Snorkel Set ?

Every Student needs their own Personal Gear (Mask, Fins, and Snorkel). This gear MUST be best-fit for you.
We do sell this equipment, provide you a customized fitting,  and offer special pricing to our students.

3. Do I need to know how to swim?
Yes you need to know how to swim.
Students will be required to pass a swimming test. The requirements are:
- Complete a 200 yard continuous surface swim or a 300 yard swim with mask, fins and snorkel.
- 10-minute swim/float without using any swim aids.

4.  Are There Age Restrictions For Classes?

Open Water Certification as a gift requires students to be at least 12 years old when they start their pool sessions.

There is no upper age restriction for adults.

Students who are 10 or 11 years old require some special considerations.  Call us at (919) 341-2787 for more information regarding certification of 10 or 11 year olds.


5. Are There Restrictions For Medical Conditions?

All students must complete a Medical Questionaire & Waiver before they can begin Part II of Scuba Lessons.
There are certain Medical conditions that require a physician to confirm you can participate in scuba lessons.
